Complexity, uncertainty and the prospect of a huge killing is a perfect formula for unconventional investors—and so it’s no surprise that bitcoin has become an arena for all manner of opportunistic moneymen.
Investment strategies, and the corresponding assumptions about how bitcoin will evolve, are all over the map. There are also a wide range of approaches even among those with the same general investment thesis. Some investors are careful stewards of the long-term growth of bitcoin. Others are essentially day traders without any special expertise in digital currencies.
While mainstream venture capital firms have recently become major players in bitcoin investing and have helped focus attention on a handful of ambitious startup companies, there are still plenty of people working the bitcoin markets in very different ways. The Information spoke with three of them.
