The Information’s Free Agents, From Coast to Coast

With the tech sector hot as ever, the talent market is tightening up, and few people are staying on the sidelines for long.

The Information’s Free Agents highlights executives between full-time roles, though the sixth installment includes one major exception: a top executive at an older firm who is currently interviewing for jobs elsewhere, even while running a $3 billion business. (Prior installments can be found here.)

This group of Free Agents is the most geographically diverse of the series, with people hailing from New York, San Antonio and Los Angeles in addition to the San Francisco Bay Area. One of them is responsible for helping Facebook make inroads with TV-ad buyers, though he didn’t work there. Another is solely responsible for bringing the iconic hashtag to your TV screen.

There’s also a recent high-profile departure from the hottest consumer app startup in the Western hemisphere. One sudden Free Agent who didn’t make the cut, Don Mattrick, was replaced as Zynga’s CEO last week. The less-than-ideal optics of that move could mean we won’t see him land anywhere soon.
