Like many new dads, The Boring Company CEO Steve Davis spent the first few weeks of fatherhood sleeping near his partner and newborn. Unlike other new fathers, Davis and his family were sleeping in an office—a makeshift bedroom at Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters, where Davis has spent the past two months acting as a proxy for its new owner and CEO, Elon Musk.
Davis, whose child was due on October 19, according to a public baby registry, is no stranger to the hardcore behavior Musk has demanded of employees. A former engineer at Space Exploration Technologies Corp., Davis was one of the first people to treat Twitter’s offices as a hotel after the October 27 acquisition, according to former Twitter employees. He is now among the highest-level deputies from Musk’s universe steering the social media company.
Musk on Tuesday said he will step down as Twitter CEO once he finds a replacement. Davis, conspicuous by his recent presence at Twitter, is likely among the potential successors.
