Appeals Court Dismisses Freedom of Speech Claim Against Tech Giants

An appeals court sided with Google, Facebook, Twitter and Apple last week when it threw out a lawsuit accusing the companies of conspiring to suppress politically conservative viewpoints.

The lawsuit, which was filed by Freedom Watch, a conservative public interest group,  claimed that the tech companies acted in concert with CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times and the Washington Post “to take down President Donald Trump.“ Freedom Watch claimed the tech companies had violated conservatives’ right to free speech. In dismissing the case, the court noted that the right to free speech applies to repression of free speech by the government, not private companies.
