Blockchain technology is mostly associated with creating and using cryptocurrencies. But a project called Braintrust uses the decentralized structure—controlled by users rather than a company—for something very different: finding work.
Founded in 2018, Braintrust connects skilled tech freelancers with clients like Goldman Sachs, American Eagle Outfitters, Porsche, Under Armour and Wayfair. It has a fee structure that’s more favorable to freelancers than other hiring platforms such as Upwork and Fiverr. Braintrust’s co-founders, Gabriel Luna-Ostaseski and Adam Jackson, credit this feature to its blockchain structure—and say it should help attract more in-demand tech workers.
