When Zenefits was raising its series C round early in 2015, one of the investors invited to participate was Los Angeles-based Alex Davis and his firm Disruptive Technology Advisers. Investors can take months before pulling the trigger on such a deal. But Mr. Davis took just 48 hours after meeting with Zenefits management to deliver cash on behalf of himself and other investors.
Mr. Davis, the 34-year-old grandson of the late oil and media billionaire Marvin Davis, is a little-known but rising investor and broker in stock of some of private tech’s biggest companies including Snap and Palantir. His firm has bought or helped other investors buy more than $1 billion in Palantir stock alone, said a person familiar with the transactions.
