At a time of intense political polarization, it can be difficult to hold unpopular opinions in Silicon Valley, a majority of readers said in response to The Information’s latest survey. But only a minority of survey respondents said they felt pressure to conform to particular points of view at their own workplaces.
Seventy percent of survey respondents said there was pressure within the tech sector to conform politically some or all of the time. Thirty-seven percent said conservative views were suppressed, while 11% felt liberal opinions couldn’t be freely aired. (See chart.)
