It’s been a grim couple of months in the tech industry, with announcements of hiring freezes or slowdowns, as well as layoffs, seemingly every other day. But for some specialized roles, hiring appears to be holding strong.
Between January and May, job postings for positions in artificial intelligence and machine learning rose more than 60% year over year, according to an analysis of EMSI Burning Glass job listing data provided to The Information by CompTIA. Listings for roles in augmented and virtual reality went up 94%, though the total volume of those listings was much smaller than the number of AI and ML roles. The data capture companies of all sizes across all industries—including those outside tech, such as finance—that advertise to fill tech roles.
