As Google seeks to give a boost to its cloud computing business—currently lagging in the No. 3 spot in the market, behind Amazon and Microsoft—it is turning to a familiar business tactic: bundling different products together.
The search giant is increasingly selling cloud services in package deals with other higher-profile parts of the company, including advertising, Android and YouTube. Google recently repositioned its cloud marketing team—which previously operated independently—to report to the head of Google’s overall marketing efforts, The Information has learned. The change could help it more easily craft future marketing campaigns promoting the benefits of cloud deals that include other Google products.
