Meta Platforms’ Mark Zuckerberg isn’t the only CEO spending more time overseeing the development of costly consumer devices. At Google, CEO Sundar Pichai directly manages two executives in charge of hardware businesses—Rick Osterloh, who oversees Pixel phones, Fitbit fitness trackers and Nest smart home devices; and Clay Bavor, who is working on experimental projects such as augmented reality headsets. Google is prioritizing the development of its own devices as Apple increases iPhone sales at the expense of devices powered by Google’s Android software.
Our updated Google org chart reflects more than 50 executive changes under Pichai in the past 18 months, a period in which the company grew headcount by about 33% to 187,000. The chart shows the top 200 or so people at the $1.3 trillion–valuation company.
