With all the speculation around whether Jack Dorsey will drop “interim” from his title at Twitter, there’s been surprisingly little reported about what he would do if he returned to permanently lead and turn around the company he co-founded. Would he focus on reaching people who don’t actively Tweet? Double down on the hard core fans? Move more aggressively into new areas like commerce?
Interviews with several people close to the company reveal more details. In particular, Mr. Dorsey has been rallying his team around a vision for Twitter that focuses on making it easier to Tweet, including broadening its utility as a longer-form publishing tool. One person referred to it as his “blue sky project.”
