Jeffrey Katzenberg’s Next Venture

The veteran movie executive has been trying to recruit people, according to two media executives who have either talked to Mr. Katzenberg about the project or have heard from people who have been pitched.
Mr. Katzenberg reached a deal to sell Dreamworks to Comcast in April, passing the reigns of the studio he helped found. The sale is due to close at the end of the year.
One of the people said Mr. Katzenberg wants to make short videos that have a higher production value than standard short videos, which all are over news and entertainment sites and most social networks.
The project could be one of many he’s batting around. There’s also been speculation that Mr. Katzenberg may want to buy Dreamworks’ 50% stake in AwesomenessTV. Mr. Katzenberg didn't respond to a request for comment.
