Philanthropist Kathryn Murdoch said no individual should control a big company like Facebook, saying “it is troubling when you have one person who wields that kind of power and it’s probably not the right way forward.”
The comments by Murdoch, at The Information’s Women in Tech, Media and Finance conference on Wednesday, followed Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen’s comments in recent days that CEO Mark Zuckerberg is not held accountable to anyone because he has absolute control of the company. Murdoch is married to James Murdoch, son of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, who has effectively controlled his media empire for decades.
