Okta’s chief revenue officer, Steve Rowland, is leaving the identity and access management software provider at the end of the month, according to a current Okta employee.
Rowland’s departure, less than two years after the enterprise software veteran joined Okta, comes as Okta is grappling with an industrywide slowdown in the enterprise software market.
Rowland’s departure means Okta is losing two senior sales executives in the same month. Okta announced in November that Susan St. Ledger would retire this month as president of worldwide field operations. Both St. Ledger and Rowland were hired in early 2021 from Splunk as part of a move by Okta to bring in more-experienced sales executives to improve its sales growth. Okta CEO and co-founder Todd McKinnon announced Rowland’s departure internally late last month but it hasn’t previously been reported.
