In recent years, tech companies including YouTube and Facebook have tried to woo creators and audiences with original, paid videos featuring internet stars. Now some of these companies are trying to attract more than just views: They are aiming to drive e-commerce sales as well.
Pinterest is the latest to jump into the fray. On Monday, the company announced Pinterest TV, a series of live, original episodes for its app featuring creators and celebrities, including makeup vlogger Manny MUA and fashion designer Christian Siriano. Starting November 8, episodes will air weekdays at 3 pm P.T. in the U.S. for users on Apple’s iOS mobile operating system. They will offer discounts from clothing and shoe retailers, including Outdoor Voices and Allbirds, presented on the shows.
