Our latest chart shows that on Patreon, podcasters rule the roost.
Publicly disclosed earnings for some of the fan-membership website’s most widely followed creators found that audio is both the most popular and lucrative medium. A top podcaster can make an estimated $30,000 per month, on average. That’s double the second-most remunerative category—instructional content—whose creators make an average $15,000 per month, or roughly what video producers make.
We based our analysis on data from service Graphtreon, which tracks the top 1,000 Patreon performers by follower count. Since some Patreon performers keep earnings private, we took a sample of the 200 performers who disclosed their earnings, then categorized them into content types—audio, gaming, comics—based on how much those categories were represented among the top 1,000 Patreon creators.
