The Information’s 411 — Some Dreamers of the Dreamforce Dream

As anyone who’s seen the masses of crumpled suits and skewed lanyards wandering through the streets of San Francisco this week can attest, another Dreamforce is winding down.

As the last tarp on the circus tent comes down, Stephen Nellis makes his first appearance on the podcast to talk about what he learned about the future of Salesforce. What potential does the Internet of Things hold for Mr. Benioff and co? Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s appearance on stage at the conference highlights one big issue, Stephen says: why Salesforce relies so heavily on competitors like Microsoft and Oracle.

Then the two reverse roles and Stephen asks Tom about his favorite subject: Snapchat. As the app company digs in on revenue plans, it’s running into the social media phenomenon of Influencers and their partnerships with advertisers. And Tom explains his belief that the company’s policy toward Influencers will change when the only person at Snapchat who matters decides to embrace them. Or not.
