If you watched Netflix’s quarterly earnings analyst call on Tuesday night, you might have caught an interesting comment from Chief Operating Officer Greg Peters. One of the main reasons Netflix picked Microsoft as the company to handle the tech side of its new advertising sales effort, Peters said, was that “we felt like we were highly strategically aligned.” He was talking about their similar attitudes on how to get into the ad market. But for conspiracy theorists out there, his comment is another sign of how Netflix and Microsoft seem suited for a bigger tie-up—a merger.
