Magic Leap’s quest to bulk up its leadership roster after falling on hard times continues: Anuj Gosalia, a veteran of Microsoft, Facebook and Google, is joining as Magic Leap’s Chief Software and Cloud Officer. Gosalia’s team will focus development of Magic Leap’s enterprise software, a new direction for the startup in the wake of its financial struggles and layoffs last year.

Gosalia’s hiring follows Magic Leap’s appointment of Tracey Trewin, another ex-Microsoft executive recently named as Leap’s new Chief Product Officer. For those skeptical of whether Magic Leap can recover and find success on its new path, the hirings may come as promising news. Gosalia has years of experience on AR and VR products that could help with one of Magic Leap’s short-term goals: launching an improved AR headset by the end of this year.
