Meditation and wellness platform Tripp is making a two-pronged announcement today, unveiling an $11.2 million extension to its Series A funding along with an acquisition of BeardedEye’s Eden, a VR-first world building tool. The addition of Eden to Tripp’s offerings—which already span AR, VR, web and mobile—could end up being the most important step the Los Angeles-based company has yet taken toward realizing its vision of a “mindful metaverse."
Any kind of metaverse needs a critical mass of people and a steady stream of content to be viable, which is why Tripp needs robust creation tools for its platform. Already, Tripp has made a point of bringing promising creators and practitioners (like the leaders of its previous acquisition, EvolVR) into its orbit, which is part of how the Eden deal came about in the first place. BeardedEye co-founder and developer Zach Krausnick joined Tripp full time in 2021, in fact, after having first met Tripp co-founder and CEO Nanea Reeves years earlier at an Oculus event.
