The Information’s editors shared this note with staff today.

Hi - We’re delighted to announce Katie Roof is joining The Information to continue what she does best: break news about the most important tech deals. She will also share her years of experience by mentoring other reporters on the craft of deal-scooping. She’ll be our new deputy bureau chief, venture capital.

Katie joins us after more than five years at Bloomberg, where she was a deals and VC reporter extraordinaire. She broke too much news for us to list here, but among the highlights was Adobe’s proposed $20 billion acquisition of Figma, Waymo getting funded at a $45 billion valuation and Twitter holding talks to buy Clubhouse. She also broke news on SpaceX stock sales (repeatedly) and Meta’s talks with Scale and many IPO listings.

Previously Katie worked at the WSJ’s Pro VC desk and TechCrunch, where she helped start the Equity podcast, which Natasha later helmed. Raised in the Bay Area, Katie has been living in Los Angeles for over three years. She starts later this month and plans to move back to San Francisco in September. Please join us in welcoming Katie!
