What Comes Next

Happy Memorial Day weekend, everyone. We made it. Congratulations! The past year has been hard—very hard. And while I expect the remainder of the year will be immensely challenging too as we figure out new working rhythms back in the office, now is a good time to take a pause, reflect on all the hard work of the last several months and look forward to what’s ahead.
When I do that, I’m grateful for the incredible work of our team, about a third of whom have joined The Information since the start of the pandemic. Their hard work in the past year—amounting to hundreds of scoops, dozens of deep investigative pieces, four new content verticals, numerous revamped back-end systems and several new publishing tools—has allowed us to serve our subscribers well during unprecedented times for the tech, media and finance businesses. Overall, we have doubled the amount of content we publish weekly.
The next several months are sure to be even more eventful. From multibillion-dollar deals to small tuck-ins, I expect more mergers to come as the strong companies go on shopping sprees—and the weak ones get burned out and bail. The largest technology companies, along with many publishers, will continue to grapple with major changes to the advertising business, spurred by Apple. And the tech giants will remain locked in mortal wars over new and emerging businesses, from augmented and virtual reality to e-commerce and beyond.
We are excited to help you stay ahead of all the big developments and are preparing some big projects to kick off this summer.
Thank you as always for being part of our community. And have a great weekend.
