As a Twitter super user, Elon Musk hasn’t wasted time rethinking tools for other active tweeters. In the past week or so since completing his takeover, Musk instructed engineers to resurrect six-second video app Vine, revamp subscription offering Twitter Blue, and build new functionalities such as paid direct messages and paywalled video, according to internal documents viewed by The Information.
What’s less clear is the fate of live audio feature Spaces, the Clubhouse competitor Twitter introduced in 2020. Prospects for the audio feature already looked bleak as people emerged from pandemic lockdowns and hung out more in person. In September, Twitter discontinued paid tickets to conversations on Spaces, The Information previously reported.
