We recently wrote about the rise of creators on cap tables and how founders are eager to tap into their audiences and know-how. But not all creators are in a financial position to invest, while others are unfamiliar with navigating the process.
Workweek, a media startup that works with business-focused creators, saw an opportunity to get more creators involved in venture capital. The Austin-based startup has launched a $10 million venture fund to invest in climate tech, cannabis and healthcare startups. The creators who bring in deals will get half of the carried interest, or the percentage of the investment profits (20%) received by the fund’s general partners, Workweek’s CEO and co-founder Adam Ryan told The Information. Workweek’s new fund will supply the cash.
