Job Description
The Information is looking for a passionate, analytical-minded designer or engineer to lead our efforts in data journalism and interactive content. Through working with our Editorial and Engineering teams, the successful candidate will shape and oversee data driven initiatives from idea stage to publication. Recent projects such as The Future List have gotten incredible traction and we have big plans to ramp up our graphics and interactive projects over the coming months.
This person will be be responsible for helping source, analyze and design the visual elements of our stories, including turning exclusive data into visually compelling stories for our subscribers.
At its core, this is a job for someone who loves data and is interested in how people consume information.
Requirements
- Candidates should be analytical (we love Excel).
- Experience with client-side web technologies -- HTML, CSS and Javascript.
- Experience using javascript based data visualization tools such as d3.js or similar.
- Knowledge of Photoshop and/or Illustrator is a big plus.
- Candidates should be familiar with basic business metrics and methods of statistical analysis. Accounting and finance acumen is a plus.
