Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian has poached another executive from his former company to help generate more business from large companies. Penny Avril, a 24-year Oracle veteran in charge of product management for database products, has left the company, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Ms. Avril will be joining Google Cloud in mid-May, according to a person with knowledge of the matter. Her role and title at Google Cloud couldn’t be learned. An Oracle spokesperson declined to comment on her departure.
Ms. Avril is the latest Oracle veteran to depart for Google Cloud in recent months, joining Amit Zavery, former executive vice president of Oracle’s cloud platform business, who is now leading a Google Cloud unit that develops software tools for connecting different applications. Mr. Kurian joined Google Cloud last November after 22 years at Oracle, where he was president of products.
