AWS Buys Startup That Shows Costs of Moving to Cloud

Amazon Web Services has acquired TSO Logic, a six-year-old startup whose software helps companies figure out the costs of running computing jobs on cloud providers. TSO Logic announced the deal in a message on its website.

The deal shows how AWS is trying to capture more business from small and medium-size companies that aren’t ready to move all their computing to the cloud–a necessary strategy for a unit with a $25 billion annualized sales rate that is growing more than 40% per quarter.  Acquisitions like this also help AWS keep customers once they’ve signed up, by ensuring they don’t get sticker shock once the cloud bills start arriving.
