Google’s Pichai Denies Political Bias in Testimony

Google CEO Sundar Pichai appears to understand what he will face on Tuesday, when he will appear in front of the House Judiciary Committee in Washington, D.C. On Monday, the committee released Mr. Pichai’s written testimony, in which the Google executive acknowledges one of the primary concerns expressed recently by the Republican congressmen who will question him on Tuesday—alleged political bias at Google against conservatives. “I lead this company without political bias and work to ensure that our products continue to operate that way,” Mr. Pichai said in his testimony. “To do otherwise would go against our core principles and our business interests.” That acknowledgement isn’t likely to lessen the flogging Mr. Pichai receives, but it is a sign he is prepared.
