BuzzFeed Lays Off HuffPost Staffers After Merger

BuzzFeed is shedding staffers from its newly acquired asset. The company announced it was laying off 47 HuffPost employees, including writers and editors, in an attempt to stem losses at the news site. In a note sent to staffers, BuzzFeed CEO Jonah Peretti said HuffPost lost $20 million in 2020, blaming the pandemic’s effect on the ads business. BuzzFeed, he said, was profitable but not enough...
