Snap Cuts 100 From Sales Team

The rolling layoffs across Snap have finally hit one of its biggest departments. Snap has been cutting employees across the company for the last six months, and as this article points out, the latest moves come on the heels of its engineering team restructuring earlier this month. It’s no surprise for anyone who has been following Snap recently. As growth slowed, a cost consciousness finally took hold and forced the company to reverse course on its overly aggressive expansion plans. The sales team in particular got pumped up over the past two years as Snap tried to flood the ad world with representatives. Many advertisers are still figuring out Snapchat, so the question for the team is whether they can continue to offer the hand-holding services for marketers with a smaller staff. Meanwhile across the company, employees are trying to meet Mr. Spiegel’s ambitious revenue growth and cost-cutting mission. One area to look at now is how morale fares within a company that’s slimmed down and focused more on the bottom line.
