Splunk CMO Quietly Leaves Company

Splunk Chief Marketing Officer Brian Goldfarb left the company last month, said people familiar with the situation. Splunk hasn’t announced his departure, in contrast to the detailed press release Splunk put out when he was appointed to the job in late 2016, including a quote from CEO Doug Merritt.

Splunk, which has a market capitalization of $18 billion, sells analytics technology that can make sense of large sets of data, for use in areas like cybersecurity or business analytics. Last month on Splunk’s fiscal second quarter earnings call, CEO Doug Merritt said the company planned to step up product marketing efforts, with events and online campaigns, to stay ahead of competitors. Mr. Merritt did not mention that Mr. Goldfarb had left the company.

Mr. Goldfarb, whose LinkedIn still lists Splunk as his current employer, didn’t respond to emails and a phone call seeking comment.
