The fallout at Univision continues. The media company announced it was going to be laying off 20 employees as it tries to figure out a strategy after it scrapped plans to go public a decade after it was taken private. Also during this last week Univision’s CFO resigned and the company announced its CEO will be stepping down too. In the past two years Univision made some aggressive moves into digital media, buying The Onion and a collection of Gawker sites now know as Gizmodo Media Group. Those are long term plays and could pay off, but they certainly won’t be meaningful to a company that is having a major short term problem.
