Fandor Streaming Service Seeks Buyer

Fandor, a streaming service for independent film fans, has laid off the majority of its staff and transferred its assets to a new entity looking to buy it, according to Variety.

While Fandor’s site will continue streaming movies until a potential acquisition, according to the article, it’s unclear if any such deal will happen. Already this year, WarnerMedia has shut down FilmStruck as well as DramaFever.

In a world where giants like Disney and AT&T’s WarnerMedia are planning to launch their own all-encompassing streaming services, it’s only going to be more difficult for such niche offerings like Fandor to survive.
