United Talent Agency has taken a major step into the esports arena, acquiring related esports companies Press X, a talent agency, and Everyday Influencers, a management business, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The agency plans to use the transaction to launch an esports division, capitalizing on the surging competitive videogame industry, which has also attracted the attention of its competitors. ICM recently formed a joint venture with esports agency Evolved. With plenty of existential challenges facing their clients in the TV and film businesses, it’s a smart move by agencies to get in on an area of entertainment that’s still in an early growth stage. And having Hollywood’s power players on board should only help esports teams, players and personalities find a bigger stage.
