Yury Izrailevsky, a former Netflix cloud engineering executive who left the company in May, joined Google Cloud as a VP of engineering in July, according to his LinkedIn profile. The move comes as Netflix is branching out from longtime cloud provider Amazon Web Services and using more services from Google Cloud, including artificial intelligence services, as we reported in April. Spokespeople from Netflix and Google Cloud weren’t immediately available for comment.
During his eight years at Netflix, Mr. Izrailevsky was the public face of the streaming video provider’s customer relationship with Amazon Web Services. He co-led a seven-year project to move all of Netflix’s computing out of its data centers and into the AWS public cloud. At Google, Mr. Izrailevsky is working on services that let companies run small amounts of code without setting up servers, which is known as “serverless computing.”
