The programming at Allen & Company’s Sun Valley conference kicked off this morning. I’ll keep it to the CliffsNotes. In a cryptocurrency panel, Wences Casares, the CEO of Xapo, predicted that the price of one Bitcoin will go to $1 million, although he noted there is still a chance it will fail. Investors Reid Hoffman and Marc Andreessen rounded out the bullishness.
Barry Diller, in a panel with Michael Bloomberg and Activision CEO Bobby Kotick entitled “Builders,” told people not to even try to compete directly with Netflix. And the crowd so far is very divided on the chances Bloomberg will run for president. (He told the audience that if there were a path for him, he would consider it, but that the Democratic Party was going in a different direction from his policies.) The president of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, wrapped up the programming without any big headlines. Coming up tomorrow: Jeff Bezos, a panel called “The Other America,” Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford and King Abdullah and Queen Rania of Jordan.
