Tesla’s long-promised $35,000 Model 3 has finally arrived, but it will get a bit harder to see them in person. The company said it will be closing many of its bricks-and-mortar stores in the coming months and shift its sales worldwide to online only. A handful of stores in high-traffic locations will remain as showcases for the company’s vehicles. Tesla said the move was necessary in order for it to offer the new low-priced Model 3 “while remaining financially sustainable.” Car buyers don’t typically plunk down $35,000 or more without being able to kick the tires on vehicles and test drive them. Tesla is about to test the limits of its passionate base of fans.
