Mobile Application Testing Startup HeadSpin Raises $20M

HeadSpin, a three-year-old startup led by the former principal architect of Amazon’s Kindle device, has closed a $20 million Series B round that values the company at $500 million, according to this report from TechCrunch. HeadSpin uses AI to analyze application data and identify potential problems with apps before they develop. This market segment, known as “application performance management,” is getting more attention as computing continues to shift from desktop PCs to mobile devices.

HeadSpin, which emerged from stealth last year, is an example of how using AI in a demonstrably useful way can help a newcomer compete with incumbents in a well-established market segment.
