Much of this profile of Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi is a regurgitation of past reporting about the company and its recent bad acts. It also offers some examples of its new leader’s charms. But there is one new detail that turned heads among close watchers of the company. Out of nowhere, the profile mentions that Khosrowshahi is set to earn $120 million if Uber goes public at a $120 billion valuation next year. We don’t doubt the veracity of the figures, but there is no accompanying discussion of the company’s financials or how in the world that valuation will be feasible within the next 20 months. We expect him to get a hefty bonus even if the valuation is lower.
