Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted a long blog post on Thursday outlining progress the company has made in blocking election interference on Facebook. He wrote how Facebook has gotten better about taking down fake accounts, misinformation, and foreign influence campaigns, using tools like machine learning. He said it has also worked to build transparency into its political advertising: Facebook now shows who paid for an ad and who it is being shown to.
These are significant steps, though Facebook is far from done. “While we’ve made steady progress, we face sophisticated, well-funded adversaries. They won’t give up, and they will keep evolving. We need to constantly improve and stay one step ahead,” Mr. Zuckerberg wrote in his post.
