Google Head of U.S. Public Policy Leaving

Google’s head of U.S. public policy Susan Molinari plans to step down at the end of the year, citing several personal reasons for the change. She said she will remain in an advisory role with the company. It’s a delicate time for Google to lose its head voice for policy in Washington, D.C. While it recently hired former GE executive Karan Bhatia to run public policy on a global basis, Ms. Molinari’s departure means Google won’t have a dedicated voice pushing its policy agenda in Washington, D.C., at a time when the company faces increasing scrutiny from regulators and lawmakers about everything from its impartiality in presenting online news and its role in spreading disinformation.
