Adyen’s Success Points Way for European Startups

The success of Dutch payments firm Adyen on the public markets has catalyzed hopes for Europe’s startup scene, which has been attracting more venture capital this year, reports the Wall Street Journal. Adyen has been among the year’s most successful public offerings, we pointed out in a story last week, and along with Swedish music-streaming service Spotify has led a big year for public listings by European tech companies. German food delivery service Delivery Hero, which went public last year, is also trading at nearly twice its IPO price. These kinds of big exits can validate a startup community in the eyes of private investors.
