U.K. Health Agency to Offer Medical Advice via Amazon’s Alexa

The U.K.‘s National Health Service is feeding Amazon’s Alexa answers to basic health questions from its website, which the voice assistant can spit out to users who ask about flu symptoms or migraine treatments, according to The Verge.

One potential downside raised in the article is that people who truly need medical care could be discouraged from seeking it out based on what Alexa tells them. For Amazon, the upside is adding another way people can interact with their Alexa-enabled Echo devices. As we’ve reported, Alexa devices have become popular for playing music or asking for the weather, but not much beyond that.
