Apple Fixes FaceTime Glitch, Credits Teenager Who Found It

Apple has released a software fix for last week’s major FaceTime vulnerability, giving official credit to the 14-year old high school student who found it along with an undisclosed amount of financial compensation, according to this report from The Washington Post. The move shows how Apple is trying to clean up the fallout from the latest dose of bad news for its iPhone business, which recently reported its first-ever decline in iPhone sales for a holiday quarter.

But there are some lingering questions about Apple’s handling about the FaceTime vulnerability, like whether Apple will make it easier for non-professionals to report security flaws to the company. With the FaceTime bug, the teenager and his mother reportedly tried to contact Apple for more than a week after finding the flaw, to no avail.
