Amazon Unveils Mini Cashierless Store

Amazon announced on Wednesday that it is opening miniature 450 square foot versions of its Amazon Go stores, starting with a location inside a Macy’s in Seattle. This follows a report that the company has approached airports about opening Go stores in busy locations such as Los Angeles and San Jose.

Amazon Go stores are typically the size of a small convenience store. The company said the new mini store will be open to Amazon employees and their visitors. The new Amazon Go location is smaller and reminiscent of stores built by the Chinese startup BingoBox across that country. BingoBox has more than 300 stores 24-hour, self-service across China that use RFID and computer vision.
