Facebook Watch is Launching a News Vertical

News organizations take heart. Although Facebook has said it is reducing the frequency of articles on the News Feed, the company still wants to have a relationship with news outlets. The article suggests that Facebook is working to “understand budget needs” but doesn’t specify whether it will be paying up front for the content like some Watch shows or just share revenue on ads. If it’s the latter it’s hard to see this becoming a big money maker for news organizations given that most advertisers prefer not to market themselves around hard news.
