Nvidia Gives Arm a Leg Up Against Intel

Nvidia is partnering more closely with SoftBank-owned Arm. Nvidia, a graphics chipmaker said it was working with Arm to bring its processor designs to supercomputers. Typically, supercomputer systems use Intel as the main processor and Nvidia as the accelerator processor. Nvidia said it would be providing its proprietary AI and high-performance computing software to Arm. The announcement could go a long way toward helping Arm find some traction in this market. Arm’s chip designs dominate in low-power devices like smartphones, but have struggled moving up into higher-end computing where Intel is king.
