New Details Emerge in Pay Discrimination Suit Against Oracle

The U.S. Department of Labor is alleging that Oracle has underpaid nearly four thousand women and minority employees by more than $400 million over the past four years, according to this report from Wired. These are the first financial details to emerge from the Department of Labor’s discrimination lawsuit against Oracle, which was filed in January 2017. Oracle is also facing a separate pay discrimination lawsuit from a group of former female employees, as we reported in September 2017.

Oracle’s pay discrimination challenges, which echo similar lawsuits at companies like Google and Uber, could complicate its efforts to compete with Amazon and Microsoft for a $10 billion cloud computing contract to provide services to the Department of Defense.
