The Information 50 Database tracks the venture-backed startups our staff identified each year as being the most promising based on revenue, business model, and growth prospects. At the time these companies made the list, they had raised less than $100 million in funding—the limit we set for candidate companies—and the vast majority were valued at $50 million to $250 million. The 200 companies in this database—50 from each of the past four years—are grouped into eight categories: business-to-business software, including security; data and artificial intelligence; fintech; commerce; consumer and creator; crypto; media; and startups based in Asia. Some of the updated fundraising totals and valuations are courtesy of PitchBook.
