Combating Misinformation, Deep Fakes and the Proliferation of Generative AI

Aug 2, 2023 - Artificial intelligence has the potential to disrupt all industries. While in many cases it’s being lauded as a technological improvement, the monumental shift comes with some concern as well. For example, experts are increasingly concerned about AI’s ability to generate content that’s practically indistinguishable from something real. During this session, we gathered industry experts to discuss the ethical concerns around the rise of generative AI, with a specific focus on what can be done to combat deep fakes and the spread of misinformation. Among the topics we explored: - What tools and software can help businesses detect and mitigate the spread of misinformation? - What ethical responsibilities do creative companies have to create frameworks surrounding AI-generated content? - How can individuals and companies use generative AI to improve speed and efficiency, while ensuring that the information provided is factual? - How can companies establish robust policies to prevent false information from spreading on their platforms? - When are the limits to freedom of expression when it comes to the spread of misinformation and deep fakes?
